Feeding Your Heart

Fall is a reminder of the transience of life. Everything continually shifts and changes. In fall the sap is drawn down towards the roots creating a feeling that you want to hibernate, just curl up in front of a fire and relax. The bright greens of squash and the still yellow blossoms excite the eye. The cool night makes it easier to sleep. It is many people’s favorite time of the year because of harvest and the beauty of autumn leaves.
Taking the time to reground in nature is especially important right now. Conflict arises over politics and differences in values, especially in an election year. Going outside and taking a deep breath and noticing the unfolding beauty will remind you of how things change and of the deeper harmony of nature.
I am not suggesting burying your head in the sand like the proverbial ostrich. Take whatever actions that are in alignment with your conscience, but then bring yourself back to harmony repeatedly. Part of happiness is savoring the fleeting moment of beauty. Inhale it, roll in it, play in it and place it into the treasure chest of your heart. It will increase your happiness.
Warmly,
