A Moment of Beauty

There is a pleasure in searching my memory of the week in search for beauty.  The cloudy days did not lend themselves to photography.  So, I waited for a sunny day so I could take photos of the giant sunflowers that are a heap over the garden.  Some of them are easily a foot in diameter and eight feet tall.  Fortunately, the overcast skies burst into rain and eventually cleared.

When I went out with my camera, a squirrel glared at me and leaped down from a sunflower.  The sun rays highlighted individual flowers.  They lit up the yellow petals and provided a great contrast with the brown centers.  There is a sense of peace when I perceive heightened beauty.  I took many photos and look forwards to going through them for inspiration to paint.

Sunflowers are one of the many ways that nature combines beauty and produce in the fall.  Many of these fruits make wonderful paintings.

Find your own example of beauty for the week and use it to feed your heart.  It will make you stronger and happier.

Warmly,

Elizabeth Brandon
