I am a fan of a watercolor skill called pouring paint. I have studied great artists such as Lian Quan Zhen and Roland Roycraft. I own every book they have published. I came up with the idea of photographing gardens with statues and using pouring paint as the technique. The artist decides where the light is coming from and proceeds to pour yellow paint, red paint, then blue and purple paints. The colors meld together. When it works, it is magical. It frequently fails. If it works well, then I let it dry and use negative painting to add shapes and shadows. It is a pleasure to watch an image emerge from a rainbow of colors.
If you are interested in the original, contact the artist.
